De Verkenner wins 1st prize Archmarathon Award

Residential tower De Verkenner in Utrecht has won an international Architecture and Design award: the Archmarathon Award 2017 in the category Mixed Use & Residential Buildings. The prize was awarded last weekend in Milan.

Archmarathon is an international event organized by Publicomm in collaboration with the Milan MADE Expo that promotes the international exchange of ideas, know-how and relationships. The first Edition was held in Milano in 2014. The 4 days of the event saw the participation of 28 international studios who presented their own projects to a large audience and the prestigious jury of Luca Molinari, Francisco Mangado and Vincenzo Latina.

Robert Platje and Michiel van Loon travelled to Milan and returned with the award for 1st place in our category. Mei is one of the studios that will also compete in the 2018 ARCHMARATHON final.

We are proud and we would like to thank all parties that were involved in the design and execution of De Verkenner: Commisioner Mitros, constructor PBT, contractor Era Contour, building physics consultant Peutz, concrete factory Decomo, ceramics factory Royal Tichelaar, visual artist Milou van Ham, poet Tsjead Bruinja, graphic designer Moniek Driesse and everybody from the Mei team.
