The Spaardersbad in Gouda is nominated for the ARC19 Development award. This award rewards the best-developed architectural project in 2018/2019. The award aims to spark the dialogue between the project developer and architect, in order to create a high-quality built environment.
In collaboration with White House Development Mei realised 6 unique loft apartments around a Mediterranean courtyard in the former swimming pool Spaardersbad. A challenging task, due to the exceptional transformation. The final result embodies the original beauty and the history of the building in various ways. It shows the successful transformation of the best visited and monumental swimming pool into a treasured and unique residential building. The new residents have proudly moved into their new Spaardersbad.
The other nominees for the Development Award are Schubertsingel Den Bosch by Houben/Van Mierlo Architecten & MWPO and Imagewharf Werk en Studiogebouw by Affaire d’Architecture & team Imagewharf.
