SAWA has been nominated for the Gouden Piramide, the National Award for inspiring entrepreneurship!
From the beginning, SAWA was designed based on one clear conviction: an urban residential building can be more than just a place to live. It can actively contribute to climate goals, affordability, biodiversity, and social cohesion. In SAWA, CO₂ reduction, circularity, biodiversity, inclusivity, and community building come together in one integrated design. That approach did not go unnoticed: SAWA has been named the healthiest building in the Netherlands.
What makes SAWA special is not only the result but also the journey to get there. The process was characterized by openness, trust, and shared ownership. Not a traditional development trajectory, but an intensive collaboration between the initiator, architect, developer, municipality, builder, neighborhood, and partners, in which everyone took responsibility for the whole.
This nomination is therefore more than just a recognition of the design itself. It is also an appreciation for the way NICE Developers and ERA Contour fulfilled their commissioning role, and for all those involved who made SAWA possible. Partners who contributed ideas, dared to take action, accepted risks, and stayed the course together towards a shared ambition.
The winner will be announced on June 12! Keep an eye on our LinkedIn page to stay updated.
We would like to thank the jury for this wonderful recognition and congratulate all the nominees!
