On October 24, 2024, SAWA, our innovative wooden residential building in Rotterdam, was featured on Dutch national television in the NTR science program Focus, in the episode “Building with Wood.”
In this broadcast, Robert Winkel, director of Mei architects and planners, together with Mark Compeer of NICE Developers, discussed the advantages and challenges of timber construction. SAWA was highlighted as a leading example of sustainable architecture that contributes to CO₂ reduction and the climate goals for 2050.
The episode also showcased the production of cross-laminated timber (CLT) at Derix, SAWA’s wood supplier, and explored key aspects such as fire safety and the use of circular materials.
We are proud of the attention SAWA has received and remain committed to innovative and sustainable construction methods. For more information about the project and our vision on timber construction, we invite you to watch the full episode (in Dutch) on the NTR website or via NPO Start.
