SAWA, the iconic, circular wooden residential tower in Rotterdam, has started its handover phase. After reaching its highest point and filling all 600 linear meters of planters with greenery this spring, the first residents are now being welcomed. This marks a special moment in which SAWA – a symbol of a greener future – becomes a tangible reality.
Mid-range rental homes for key societal groups
In addition to the private sector apartments, the mid-range rental homes have now been successfully allocated. Most of these homes are designated for people in key societal professions and residents moving on from social housing. In this way, SAWA makes a concrete contribution to an inclusive city.
From vision to vibrant community
What began as an ambitious promise – to build in a sustainable, circular, and inclusive way – is now fully realised. In the coming weeks, more and more residents will move into the building. The official opening of SAWA is scheduled for September, but the building is already coming to life.
