The storage units of the Schiecentrale have been thoroughly repaired. The coating of the original composite units was not properly executed in prefabrication. This caused the outer layer of the storage elements to delaminate. The manufacturer supplied new elements, that are placed around the existing units like ‘cocoons’.
The new storages weigh 200 kg per unit. Two industrial climbers mounted the units onto the building, making use of a lightweight crane. The crane, developed by ALE Heavylift, was located on the roof of the building. It was moved via the rails of the window cleaning system.
After five weeks of hard work, the elements are once again weather protected and they make the Schiecentrale look as good as new.
