The new McDonald’s pavilion in Rotterdam, designed by mei architects and planners, has been nominated for the ARC15 Detail Award, a Dutch prize for realized architecturally challenging projects which distinguish themselves through innovative details within a coherent overall concept.

The jury – consisting of Ronald Schleurholts (Cepezed), Arie van der Neut (studio Nine Dots), François Claessens (WVH) Tillmann Klein (TU Delft), George Henkens (Aronsohn) and Maartje Henket (editor of Technology Architect) praises the consistent detailing and also the realization process.

Thanks to an ambitious client / franchizer, the result is a pavilion that is called ‘ the fanciest McDonald’s in the world’ ! And thanks to the close cooperation with the various utilities, Mei managed to fully integrate the power boxes in the façade.
