Right next to the A16 beltway of Rotterdam stands a large office building, designed in 2008. The owner, Cromwell Property Group, has decided to repurpose it to be suitable for multiple tenants. The result is The Mark, Rotterdam’s newest multi-tenant building. Mei architects and planners signed for the transformation of the interior.
The ground floor now features a coffee bar. Space for this was created by incorporating part of the parking garage into the main building. The coffee bar has a green wall, and icons of Rotterdam are embellishing the glass. The entrance hall, which now contains an open and spacious feel, maximises and optimises the different areas to encourage encounters between people.
Additionally, the entrance hall and restaurant on the third floor have gotten a make-over. A new, 6- meter high, circular cabinet wall (a true eye catcher), seating niches, and special ceiling lighting, give this space a contemporary and pleasant atmosphere.
Mei also designed other interior elements, such as the counter in the entrance hall and the reading table inside the coffee bar. The furniture has a smoked oak finish.
