Fenix I has received its tenth nomination! The project was selected from more than 40 submissioned residential projects, and scores exceptionally high on the points of social relevance, craftsmanship and innovation.
“The jury expresses its appreciation for the brave choice of the architect – and the developer – for this part of Rotterdam. The new construction has been skilfully combined with the industrial heritage. Fenix I has been carefully integrated into its environment with a beautiful trampling to the lower residential area on the one hand and a sturdy appearance that connects to the port on the other. The jury finds the plinth particularly well-programmed, and is pleased to note that space has been made for functions that were already present in the area. The jury thinks that opening up the houses, with an attractive gallery, is daring. With their wide balconies and transparent facades, the houses take full advantage of the view over the water and the city. A powerful impulse for Katendrecht.”
