Mei likes to explore subjects in depth, and the designers on the team know all the ins and outs of building regulations. The office consciously invests in knowledge, in areas such as BREEAM, BIM, product and material development.
Mei embraces the challenge of inventing and developing creative solutions in the form of new products and applications. Materialisation has become an increasingly important factor in the design process. Mei anticipates this by researching and developing new products and finding new uses for existing products.
Technology is used as a design tool. The application of new products leads to buildings with an own identity.
Examples of product development by Mei include perforated steel sheets for the Gnome Car Park in Almere, and composite storage units and protective screens of woven stainless steel for the Schiecentrale 4b building in Rotterdam.
